Meeting Tun Dr. Mahathir bin Mohamad - The FOUNDER OF ModeRN MaLAYSIA



Some refer to Tun Dr. Mahathir bin Mohamad as the founder of modern Malaysia. There is no question that he has had a large and mostly positive impact on Malaysia's development over his long career. Tun Dr. Mahathir bin Mohamad has written many books and they are well worth reading. Below, J Charles Wilson, the founder of Wilson & York Global Advisers gets his copy of "The Way Forward" signed by the author and Prime Minister of Malaysia. Suria Component Manufacturing {SCM} was founded in 2000 by Mr Musa Zaidee in Shah Alam Malaysia, also known as "Car City". He started with four part time staff and hit sales of MYR 1,000,000 by his second year of operation. As at Dec 2024, SCM has over 800 staff and has over MYR 200,000,000 in sales. That is a compound growth of 23% a year in sales.





Suria Component Manufacturing {SCM} has faced many challenges over the past 24 years since it was founded. Over 2008- 2010 there was Toyota recall of 800,000 cars due to pedal parts problems sourced from various companies, including Perodua for whom SCM was a supplier. After the Japanese quality team arrived in Malaysia it seemed the SCM would lose business. But the founder rallied his team and requested to be taught Japanese standards of quality. Toyota indicated that if SCM could pass their training courses they would keep them on. And this effort to learn to do things always better led to increased business.
